Once upon a time, in a valley where the grass grew soft as velvet, there lived a gentle child named Ollie.
Ollie had a little owl friend called Pip, with feathers like warm caramel and eyes that blinked slowly, slowly.
Every evening, they sat together on the porch and watched the sky turn pink.
Tonight, Ollie had a basket of golden starfruit from the garden.
"Let's share these with someone special," Ollie whispered.
Pip ruffled their feathers and hooted softly, "Who-oo-oo?"
Ollie and Pip walked down the mossy path, past the whispering willows.
The air smelled like honey and warm earth.
At the edge of the meadow, they saw something wonderful.
Three friendly dinosaurs were resting in the tall, swaying grass.
There was Fern, a long-necked brachiosaurus with kind, sleepy eyes.
Beside her dozed Pebble, a small stegosaurus with plates like smooth river stones.
And curled up close was Clover, a tiny triceratops with a nose as soft as a puppy's.
"Hello," Ollie said gently.
Fern lifted her head, slow and graceful as a cloud drifting.
"Hello, little friend," she murmured.
"We were just dreaming of the stars."
Ollie held up the basket.
"I brought starfruit to share," they said.
But the basket felt heavier now.
Ollie's arms were a little tired, and they felt a wobbly, fluttery feeling in their tummy.
What if the dinosaurs were too sleepy to want any?
Pip perched on Ollie's shoulder and nuzzled their cheek with a soft wing.
"They look hungry," Pip whispered.
Ollie took a slow, brave breath.
They stepped closer and held out a starfruit to Fern.
Fern's eyes lit up like two warm lanterns.
She took the fruit with her gentle lips and chewed slowly, humming a low, rumbling hum.
"Mmm, sweet as moonlight," she said.
Pebble blinked awake and wiggled closer.
Clover yawned, showing tiny, blunt teeth.
Ollie gave them each a starfruit, one by one.
The dinosaurs munched quietly, and the sound was like rain on leaves, soft and soothing.
"Thank you, Ollie," Fern said, her voice a warm rumble.
"You are brave and kind."
Pebble nodded, already closing their eyes again.
Clover nuzzled Ollie's hand with their soft nose.
Ollie felt warm all over, like being wrapped in the coziest blanket.
They sat down in the grass between the dinosaurs.
Pip nestled into Ollie's lap.
The stars began to blink on, one by one, in the deepening sky.
Fern's long neck curved around them all like a gentle fence.
Pebble's slow, steady breathing made a soft rhythm.
Clover's little snores were like the tiniest purrs.
"Sweet as moonlight," Ollie whispered, trying out the words.
Pip hooted, so softly it was almost a sigh.
The meadow smelled like clover and warm, sleepy dinosaurs.
The grass was a soft bed beneath them.
Ollie's eyes grew heavier and heavier.
They felt safe, and brave, and loved.
"Sweet as moonlight," Fern murmured one last time, her voice fading into dreams.
And there, under the gentle stars, with Pip tucked close and the friendly dinosaurs all around, Ollie drifted off to sleep.
