Once upon a time, in a snug little house by the sea, Max sat on the porch with Bubbles. Bubbles was a baby seal, soft and gray, with big round eyes. Max patted Bubbles' head and yawned. "I wonder how children fall asleep around the world," Max said softly. Bubbles made a gentle sound, like a tiny sneeze. Then something magical happened. A warm, golden wave rolled up from the sea. It sparkled softly in the moonlight. The wave whispered, "Come with me, and I will show you." Max and Bubbles climbed onto the wave. It felt warm and safe, like floating on a soft blanket. The wave carried them gently across the ocean. "Goodnight wave, where are we going?" Max whispered. The wave hummed a quiet tune. First, the wave brought them to a village where the sun was just setting. A little girl was snuggling into bed under a mosquito net. Her grandmother sang a lullaby, slow and sweet. Max listened, feeling the warm night air. Bubbles rested their head on Max's lap. "Goodnight wave, that was beautiful," Max said. The wave carried them on, rocking them gently. Next, they floated to a place where snow fell softly outside a window. A boy was tucked under a thick, fluffy quilt. His father told him a story about a sleepy bear. The room smelled like warm milk and cinnamon. Max felt their eyes grow heavy. Bubbles' breathing was slow and steady. "Goodnight wave, I feel so cozy," Max murmured. The wave swayed like a cradle. Then they drifted to a tent under a sky full of stars. A child lay on soft rugs, wrapped in blankets. Their mother pointed at the stars and whispered their names. The desert air was cool and quiet. Max yawned again, a big sleepy yawn. Bubbles' eyes were half-closed now. "Goodnight wave, thank you," Max said, very softly. The wave turned back toward home, gentle as a lullaby. It brought Max and Bubbles to their porch by the sea. The moon was high and silver. Max climbed into bed, and Bubbles curled up beside them. "Goodnight, Bubbles," Max whispered. Bubbles made one last tiny sneeze-sound. Max pulled the blanket up to their chin. They could still hear the goodnight wave, humming its quiet tune. Max closed their eyes. They felt warm and safe and loved. And they drifted off to sleep, dreaming of children everywhere, all tucked in tight.
