Theo yawned and rubbed his eyes.
It was bedtime, but he wondered…
How do children sleep around the world?
Willow, his soft bear cub, nuzzled close.
"Let's go see," she whispered.
They floated gently on a cloud of moonlight.
Down, down, down they drifted…
Until they landed softly in a warm desert.
A tent glowed with lanterns.
Inside, children lay on woven rugs.
The air smelled like cinnamon and sand.
"They sleep under starlight," Theo said softly.
Willow took his hand.
"Let's go see," she whispered again.
The moonlight carried them over mountains.
They landed in a snowy village.
A cozy wooden house had a crackling fire inside.
Children slept in beds piled high with quilts.
"They sleep where it's warm and safe," Theo murmured.
The cloud lifted them one more time.
They floated over an ocean.
They found a houseboat rocking gently on calm water.
Children dozed in hammocks, swaying softly.
The sound of waves whispered hush, hush, hush.
"They sleep where it's warm and safe," Theo said.
Willow yawned.
"Time to go home now."
The moonlight brought them back to Theo's own bed.
His blanket was soft.
His pillow was cool.
Willow curled up beside him.
"Everywhere in the world," Theo whispered, "children sleep where it's warm and safe."
He closed his eyes.
The moonlight tucked them in.
And Theo and Willow drifted off to sleep.
