Max lived in a little house at the edge of the Whispering Woods. Every night, his friend Rex stayed close beside him. Rex was a baby dinosaur with soft green scales and the gentlest eyes. Tonight, Max couldn't sleep. He sat up in his cozy bed and whispered, "Rex, I'm not sleepy yet." Rex lifted his head and made a quiet rumbling sound, like a purr. Max had an idea. "Let's find the sleepy song," he said softly. Rex stood up on his little dinosaur feet. Together, they tiptoed to the window. Outside, the moon was round and glowing. The stars twinkled like tiny nightlights in the sky. Max opened the window just a little. A warm breeze floated in, smelling like flowers and grass. "Do you hear it, Rex?" Max whispered. Rex tilted his head and listened. From far away in the woods came a soft sound. It was gentle and low, like a lullaby humming through the trees. "That's the sleepy song," Max said, smiling. They walked to the doorway, slow and quiet. Rex's tail swished softly on the floor. Max held Rex's warm, scaly paw. The sleepy song grew a little louder, soft as a whisper. Max sat down on the soft rug. Rex curled up right beside him, warm and close. The sleepy song drifted through the window like a gentle wave. Max leaned against Rex's side. "The sleepy song is everywhere," Max whispered. Rex closed his eyes and rumbled softly. Max felt his own eyes growing heavy. The song wrapped around them like a blanket. Max yawned. Rex yawned too, showing his tiny dinosaur teeth. Max whispered one more time, "The sleepy song…" But he didn't finish. He was already drifting into dreams. Rex rested his head on his paws. The moon glowed through the window. The sleepy song hummed on and on. And Max and Rex fell asleep together, safe and warm and loved.
