In his dream, Leo walked down a quiet street.
The evening light was soft and golden.
Scout padded beside him, nose twitching at the gentle breeze.
They passed Mr. Chen sweeping the sidewalk with slow, careful strokes.
Swish… swish… swish.
"Thank you for keeping our street so clean," Leo said softly.
Mr. Chen smiled and nodded.
Leo felt warm inside.
"Helpers are everywhere," he whispered to Scout.
They walked a little further.
The air smelled like fresh bread from the bakery.
Mrs. Rivera was turning off the lights, humming a lullaby.
"Thank you for the warm bread," Leo said gently.
Mrs. Rivera waved through the window.
Scout's tail wagged slower now.
The world felt soft and safe.
"Helpers are everywhere," Leo whispered again.
At the corner, the crossing guard was folding up his bright vest.
He gave Leo a gentle wave.
"Thank you for helping us cross safely," Leo said.
The guard smiled and tipped his hat.
Leo yawned.
Scout leaned against his leg.
The street lamps glowed like tiny moons.
"I can be a helper too," Leo said softly.
He picked up a fallen flower and placed it gently in a window box.
One small, kind thing.
Scout licked his hand.
"Helpers are everywhere," Leo whispered one last time.
The dream grew softer.
Warmer.
Quieter.
Leo found himself back in his cozy bed.
Scout was snuggled close, breathing slowly.
The blankets felt like a warm hug.
Leo smiled.
Tomorrow, he would be a helper too.
But tonight…
Tonight was for dreaming.
For resting.
For feeling safe and loved.
Leo closed his eyes.
