Finn stepped into the quiet forest, holding a soft lantern.
The trees whispered gently in the evening breeze.
Beside him walked Nutmeg, a sleepy fox with warm amber eyes.
Nutmeg yawned and said softly, "The forest is so quiet tonight."
Finn nodded.
He wanted to find the animals and say goodnight to each one.
But the forest felt very big… and very still.
They walked slowly along the mossy path.
The lantern made everything glow with golden light.
"Where is everyone?" Finn whispered.
Nutmeg sniffed the air.
Her tail swished gently against the ferns.
Then they heard it—a soft rustling sound.
Under a low branch, they found a rabbit with velvet-soft ears.
"Hello," Finn said quietly.
The rabbit blinked slowly.
"I'm so sleepy," the rabbit murmured. "But I can't find my burrow."
Finn knelt down.
He noticed tiny mushrooms glowing beside a twisted root.
"Look," he said. "The mushrooms make a path."
The rabbit hopped slowly along the glowing mushrooms…
And disappeared into a cozy burrow beneath the roots.
"Goodnight," the rabbit whispered.
Finn and Nutmeg walked deeper into the forest.
The air smelled like pine and damp earth.
Nutmeg's eyes grew heavy.
"The forest is so quiet tonight," she said again, yawning.
They found a hedgehog curled on a bed of leaves.
"I'm so sleepy," the hedgehog said softly. "But the leaves aren't warm enough."
Finn thought for a moment.
He took off his scarf—soft and blue—and tucked it gently around the hedgehog.
The hedgehog sighed and closed his eyes.
"Thank you," he breathed.
The lantern's glow grew softer now.
Nutmeg leaned against Finn's leg.
"I'm so sleepy too," she whispered.
They found a hollow tree with moss inside, soft as a cloud.
Finn sat down, and Nutmeg curled beside him.
The forest hummed a gentle lullaby—wind through leaves, crickets singing low.
"The forest is so quiet tonight," Nutmeg murmured one last time.
Finn closed his eyes.
The lantern's light flickered once…
Then softly faded.
And in the warm, sleepy forest, Finn and Nutmeg drifted into dreams.
