Once upon a time, in a snug little house beside the sea, there lived a child named Luna.
Luna loved the ocean more than anything.
Every evening, they walked down to the shore with their best friend, a gentle rabbit named Marbles.
Marbles had soft grey fur and floppy ears that bounced with every hop.
Tonight, the sky was turning dusty pink.
The waves made a low, peaceful hum.
Luna could feel the cool, damp sand under their bare feet.
"Do you hear that, Marbles?" Luna whispered.
"The ocean is humming."
Marbles twitched one long ear and hopped closer to the water's edge.
They sat together, watching the tide pools fill with silvery water.
Luna noticed something wonderful.
In the nearest tide pool, tiny sea creatures were waking up for the evening.
A small purple starfish stretched its arms slowly.
A round, pebbly sea urchin rocked gently in the shallow water.
And a translucent jellyfish, no bigger than Luna's hand, drifted like a little cloud.
"The ocean is humming," Luna said again, very softly.
But then Luna felt a wobbly, fluttery feeling in their tummy.
The sun was sinking lower, and the tide pool looked darker now.
What if the little sea creatures felt lonely when the light faded?
Luna knelt down beside the pool.
Marbles hopped right up next to them, warm and close.
Luna could feel Marbles' soft fur against their arm.
"Maybe they need to know someone is watching over them," Luna whispered.
So Luna did something very brave.
They reached into their pocket and pulled out a smooth, glowing pebble they had found that morning.
It was pale and milky, and it seemed to hold a tiny bit of moonlight inside.
Luna placed the pebble gently at the edge of the tide pool.
The pebble glowed softly in the dimming light.
The starfish stretched a little closer.
The jellyfish drifted near, its edges shimmering.
Even the sea urchin seemed to lean toward the gentle glow.
"The ocean is humming," Luna said one more time, and this time it felt like the ocean was humming just for them.
The waves rolled in, slow and steady.
The air smelled like salt and something sweet, like evening flowers.
Marbles nestled against Luna's side, warm and sleepy.
Luna felt their eyes growing heavy.
The fluttery feeling in their tummy was gone now, replaced by something soft and calm.
The little sea creatures seemed peaceful, rocking gently in their glowing pool.
Luna leaned back against Marbles, feeling the rabbit's heartbeat, slow and sure.
The sky turned deep violet, and the first star blinked awake.
The ocean hummed its low, endless song.
And there, beside the tide pool, with Marbles tucked close and the little pebble glowing softly in the dusk, Luna closed their eyes and drifted off to sleep.
