Beside him stood Sparkle, a baby unicorn with a coat like fresh snow.
Her horn glowed with a gentle silver light, warm and calm.
"Stay close," Arjun whispered, and Sparkle nuzzled his hand.
They stepped through the garden gate together.
The path beneath their feet was made of smooth, cool pebbles.
Each step made a soft *tick-tick* sound, like a clock winding down.
Arjun noticed the flowers leaning toward them.
Their petals were deep purple and midnight blue.
"The flowers are humming," he said softly.

Arjun saw a narrow archway hidden in the leaves.
"Maybe the sleepiest song is through there," he whispered.
They walked through the archway together.
On the other side, the garden opened into a circle of soft grass.
In the center stood a tree with branches that drooped low, heavy with glowing lanterns.
The lanterns were filled with tiny, floating stars.
Arjun knelt on the grass.
It was softer than any pillow.
"The flowers are humming again," he said, smiling.
The sound was so gentle now, like a mother's lullaby far away.
Sparkle lay down beside him, folding her legs beneath her.
Her horn dimmed to a faint glow, peaceful and steady.
Arjun rested his hand on her warm back.
But the stars in the lanterns began to fade, one by one.
The humming grew quieter.
Arjun felt a little worried. "What if the song goes away forever?"
He looked up at the tree.
One lantern still glowed brightly, hanging from the lowest branch.
Inside, a single star spun slowly, waiting.
Arjun stood up carefully.
He reached for the lantern and lifted it down.
It was light as a feather, warm in his hands.
He whispered to the star inside, "Please keep singing."
The star sparkled, brighter for just a moment.
Then it floated gently out of the lantern and up into the sky.
The humming began again, soft and slow.
The other stars in the other lanterns flickered back to life.
The flowers swayed, humming their sleepiest song.
Arjun lay back down on the soft grass.
Sparkle curled closer, resting her head near his shoulder.
"The flowers are humming," Arjun whispered, his eyes growing heavy.
The sound wrapped around them, gentle and endless.
The tree's branches swayed in a breeze that smelled like dreams.
The lanterns glowed softly, little pools of light.
Arjun felt warm all over, safe and calm.
Sparkle's breathing slowed, deep and even.
Her horn barely glowed now, just a whisper of silver.
Arjun's hand rested on her soft coat.
Above them, the stars in the lanterns twinkled like sleepy eyes.
The flowers kept humming, quieter and quieter.

His eyes closed.
