High above the world, the Wind and the Sun were the very best of friends.
They loved to watch over everything below.
One warm afternoon, they began to wonder…
Who was stronger?
The Wind said softly, "I can blow the clouds across the sky."
The Sun said gently, "I can make the flowers open wide."
They thought and thought.
Then they saw a traveler walking along a quiet road.
She wore a cozy blue cloak wrapped all around her.
"Let's see who can help her take off her cloak," whispered the Wind.
"That will show who is stronger."
The Sun agreed with a warm smile.
The Wind went first.
He blew and blew, soft gusts across the meadow.
But the traveler only pulled her cloak tighter.
She held it close and kept on walking.
The Wind blew a little more… but it didn't help.
The traveler wrapped her cloak even closer.
"Your turn," said the Wind quietly.
The Sun began to shine, gentle and golden.
Warm light spread across the road like honey.
The traveler felt the cozy warmth all around her.
She smiled and loosened her cloak just a little.
The Sun shone a bit brighter, soft and kind.
The traveler felt so wonderfully warm…
She slipped off her cloak and carried it over her arm.
She walked on, humming a peaceful tune.
The Wind and the Sun looked at each other.
"You were stronger," said the Wind with a gentle laugh.
"Kindness is always the strongest," whispered the Sun.
And they both glowed softly in the sky…
Watching over the world together…
As the day grew quiet and sleepy…
And everything below settled down to rest.
The Sun tucked the world in with one last golden ray.
Goodnight.
