Once there was a kind young boy who lived at the edge of a quiet forest.
His name was Sam, and he loved to help wherever he could.
One morning, he packed a little basket with bread and cheese.
He was going to gather firewood for his family.
As he walked through the trees, he heard a soft voice.
"Hello there," called an old woman sitting on a mossy stone.
"I'm so hungry," she said gently.
Sam smiled and sat down beside her.
"Here," he said. "Please share my lunch."
They ate together in the dappled sunlight, talking about birds and butterflies.
When they finished, the old woman's eyes twinkled warmly.
"You have such a kind heart," she whispered.
She reached into her bag and pulled out something that shimmered like sunshine.
It was a beautiful golden goose, soft and glowing.
"This is for you," she said. "Take good care of her."
Sam thanked her and gently carried the goose toward the village.
As he walked, people stopped to look at the wonderful golden bird.
A girl reached out to touch the shining feathers…
And her hand stuck gently to the goose, as if held by magic honey.
"Oh my!" she laughed.
Her brother tried to pull her away…
But his hand stuck to her shoulder, soft as a dream.
One by one, more curious people joined the line, all stuck together in the silliest way.
They weren't hurt at all—just giggling and wobbling along behind Sam.
The funny parade wound through the village streets.
Everyone who saw them couldn't help but smile and laugh.
Even the grumpy baker chuckled from his doorway.
Even the serious mayor began to giggle.
The whole village filled with warm, happy laughter.
At the edge of town lived a princess who hadn't smiled in a very long time.
She sat by her window, feeling sad and lonely.
But when she saw the wobbly, giggling parade go by…
She couldn't help herself.
A smile crept across her face.
Then a little laugh bubbled up.
Soon she was laughing the happiest laugh anyone had ever heard.
The king was so grateful that his daughter was joyful again.
He invited Sam and everyone to a cozy celebration in the castle garden.
There were soft blankets spread on the grass and warm cider with cinnamon.
The golden goose nestled happily beside Sam, glowing like a gentle nightlight.
The magic slowly melted away, and everyone was free…
But they stayed close together anyway, because they'd become friends.
The princess sat with them, smiling and peaceful.
As the stars began to twinkle overhead…
Sam looked at his golden goose and stroked her soft feathers.
"Thank you," he whispered.
The goose closed her eyes and made a gentle, sleepy sound.
Everyone felt warm and safe and loved.
And as the moon rose big and silver above them…
They all drifted off to sleep under the starry sky, dreaming of kindness and laughter and golden light.
