Once upon a time, a little princess lived in a castle by the forest.
She had a favorite golden ball that sparkled in the sunlight.
One warm afternoon, she played by a quiet pond.
She tossed her ball up, up, up into the air…
But it slipped from her hands and plopped into the deep water.
The princess sat down and felt very sad.
Just then, a little green frog popped his head above the water.
"Why are you sad?" he asked in a gentle, croaky voice.
"I've lost my golden ball," she said softly.
"I can help you," said the frog kindly.
"But would you be my friend if I bring it back?"
The princess nodded, and the frog dove down deep.
A moment later, he came back up with the golden ball in his mouth.
The princess was so happy, she thanked him and ran back to the castle.
But she forgot all about her promise to be the frog's friend.
That evening, there was a soft knock at the castle door.
Tap, tap, tap.
The princess opened it and saw the little frog sitting there.
"I brought your ball back," he said gently.
"Will you be my friend now?"
The kind king smiled at his daughter.
"A promise is a promise," he said warmly.
So the princess invited the frog inside.
She shared her supper with him, and he ate very politely.
She let him sit on a soft cushion beside her.
When bedtime came, the frog hopped along to her room.
The princess made him a cozy little bed with a silk handkerchief.
She tucked him in carefully.
"Thank you for being kind," whispered the frog.
And as she looked at him, something magical happened.
The frog began to shimmer and glow softly, like starlight.
And suddenly, he wasn't a frog anymore…
He was a gentle prince with kind eyes.
"A grumpy wizard turned me into a frog long ago," he explained softly.
"Only a true friend's kindness could break the spell."
The princess smiled.
"I'm glad we're friends," she said.
The prince thanked her and went to sleep in the guest room down the hall.
The next morning, they played together in the castle garden.
They became the very best of friends.
And every evening, they would sit by the pond…
Watching the water sparkle in the sunset…
Listening to the peaceful sounds of the forest…
Feeling grateful for kindness and promises kept.
The princess would hold her golden ball gently.
And remember how something wonderful can come from being kind.
Now the stars are twinkling outside.
The castle is quiet and peaceful.
Everyone is safe and warm.
And it's time to close your eyes…
And drift off to sleep…
Just like the princess and the prince…
