Once there was a kind boy named Jack who lived in a little cottage with his mother.
They had a gentle cow who gave them milk every morning.
One day, the cow stopped giving milk, and Jack's mother said softly, "We must sell her at the market, dear."
Jack walked to town with the cow, humming a little tune.
On the way, he met an old woman with twinkling eyes.
"I'll trade you these magic beans for your cow," she said with a warm smile.
Jack thought the beans looked wonderful and sparkly, so he said yes.
When he got home, his mother sighed gently.
"Oh Jack, we needed money, not beans," she whispered.
She tossed the beans out the window, and they both went to bed.
In the morning, Jack woke to see something amazing…
A enormous beanstalk had grown right up to the clouds, with big soft leaves.
"I wonder what's up there," Jack said quietly.
He began to climb, higher and higher, through the fluffy white clouds.
At the top, he found a land of soft grass and a great big castle.
Jack walked to the door and knocked gently.
A kind giant woman opened it.
"Hello, little one," she said in a voice like distant thunder. "Come in and rest."
She gave Jack a tiny cup of warm milk and a small piece of bread.
Then Jack heard heavy footsteps.
"My husband is coming," she whispered. "He gets grumpy when he's surprised. Hide here."
Jack tucked himself behind a big soft cushion.
The giant came in, sniffing the air.
"I smell something different," he rumbled.
But his wife served him supper, and he forgot all about it.
After eating, the giant took out a hen.
"Lay," he said gently.
And the hen laid a beautiful golden egg, shining like the sun.
Soon the giant yawned and fell asleep in his big chair, snoring softly.
Jack tiptoed out and carefully picked up the hen.
"Come with me," he whispered. "I'll take good care of you."
He climbed down the beanstalk, holding the hen close and safe.
His mother was so happy to see him.
The hen laid a golden egg right away, glowing warm and bright.
"Now we'll always have what we need," Jack's mother said, hugging him.
Jack thanked the beanstalk quietly.
Then he found the old woman's magic beans and planted them in a little garden…
Just in case he ever wanted to visit the clouds again.
That night, Jack and his mother had warm soup for dinner.
The hen settled in a cozy nest by the fire.
Jack climbed into his soft bed and pulled up his blanket.
Outside, the beanstalk swayed gently in the evening breeze.
Jack closed his eyes, thinking of fluffy clouds and kind giants.
His mother kissed his forehead softly.
"Sleep well, my brave boy," she whispered.
And Jack drifted off to sleep, safe and warm and loved, dreaming of golden eggs glowing softly in the gentle dark.
